Pressure Washer Hose: Technology that Enhances the Performance of Your High-Pressure Washer

The demand for accessories that enhance the versatility of high-pressure washers, including a pressure washer hose, has led to increased efficiency and a more pleasant user experience. Nozzles with adjustable spray patterns for varying angled degrees of cleaning and hoses made from polymers that retain their flexibility make sure that the focus is where it is meant to be, not waging war on the hosepipe. In our manufacturing process, we at Bestline Manufacturing make sure that Cat Pumps, the driving force behind your high-pressure washer, consistently delivers the precise flow and pressure tailored to your specific application.

Are Pressure Washer Hoses a Universal Fit?

When it comes to a pressure washer hose, it’s not a case of “one size fits all”. Certain considerations need to be factored in, amongst them making sure that the diameter of your hose is suited to the amount of pressure produced by the pump. As the pump delivers the required amount of force and flow based on whether you are cleaning a build-up of grime on paving or blasting paint off the side of a building, it is imperative that the pressure washer hose can withstand the pump’s PSI ratings.

For residential electric and gas-powered high-pressure washers, a hose diameter of 6.5 mm should be sufficient. Most washers in this category can handle up to 3000 PSI; however, it is advisable to double-check the manufacturer’s guide on your washer first before attaching the hose.

Commercial pressure washers that can accommodate up to 10,000 PSI require a slightly thicker power washer hose, normally 9.5 mm in diameter. Compared to residential hoses, these are stronger as they need to be able to handle both higher pressures and larger water volumes.

Price, Flexibility, and Durability

A high-pressure washer is an investment and, as such, you need to consider the type of material for your hose. It’s important to note that while a pressure washer hose is generally compatible with both hot and cold water, not every hose is designed to handle both temperatures. The material used in manufacturing the hose significantly impacts its price, flexibility, and durability.

  • Polyurethane hoses are the preferred choice for commercial pressure washers, being able to emit 3000 PSI and more. Covering these steel-braided hoses is a bendable plastic coating, making them extremely flexible, surprisingly lightweight, and durable.
  • Rubber hoses may be more malleable than plastic; however, they are heavier, handling up to 3000 PSI.
  • Plastic pressure washer hoses are the most affordable yet less pliable option, making them very difficult to work with. They are usually used with light- to medium-powered pressure washers.

Saving costs by using a garden hose is not the answer as they cannot handle the amount of force a pressure washer generates.

From Hoses to Nozzles

Every element of a high-pressure washer system has been specifically designed and engineered for optimal performance, from the hoses to the pump and the nozzles. Attached to the hoses, these multi-coloured attachments create water pressure, generating force and restricting flow. From a zero-degree spray pattern for cleaning tough stains on metal and concrete through to a 40° spray pattern perfect for fragile surfaces such as glass and windows, a high-pressure washer is the ideal tool.
