Tips for Maintaining Your Pressure Washer
The pressure washer that you choose to invest in will make cleaning home and industrial premises a great deal easier. Whether you are cleaning a deck, driveway, roof, or wall, you need to ensure that your pressure washer is in the best possible condition, so that you can expect the best performance from it.
Below are a few tips to follow, if you want to keep your pressure washer in the best possible condition for many years to come:
- Make sure that the engine’s air filter is always clean. This filter is responsible for keeping dirt and dust out of the engine. It’s good practice to clean the filter every few hours (every 4 to 5 hours) during use. You should consider replacing the filter after the unit has done 100 hours of work. You won’t be able to clean paper air filters without causing damage, but foam filters can be washed and thoroughly soaked in engine oil before being returned to the unit.
- Clean the fuel filter on a schedule. Every few months, take the time to clean the fuel filter, but make sure that you consult with your owner’s manual before doing so. All pressure cleaners will have different requirements with regards to this.
- Make sure that the water inlet screen is regularly cleaned. Dirt and debris can build up on this screen quite easily. You can clean it effectively by simply rinsing it with water. Just make sure that it’s completely dry before you replace it into the washer. If the screen is damaged, it must be replaced.
- Thoroughly inspect the hose and connections before and after each use, to ensure that wear and tear hasn’t compromised these components.
At Bestline Manufacturing in Johannesburg, we stock and supply a wide range of pressure washer products designed for home and industrial use. The range is powered by Cat, which means that you can expect reliable and long-term use from any of the washers that we sell. When you purchase a pressure washer from us, we will ensure that it has the required capacity for your needs, and will also advise you on the correct ongoing maintenance requirements to ensure that your unit provides a service for as long as expected (and much longer too).
The pressure washers that we stock range in capacity, and we strongly urge you to know what PSI rating you will require, before you purchase a unit. One particular pressure washer might be great for cleaning garden furniture, but completely useless in a setting where oil and chemicals must be cleaned. For this reason, it’s important to shop for a pressure washer with your primary needs and requirements in mind, instead of just shopping according to price.
